Lyriks helps young people who are unable to get the support they need through mainstream education.
They take a kids first approach, giving the rangatahi who come to them a voice, listening to them and working with them to get them through their education.
About Alternative Education
Alternative Education (AE) provides learning opportunities for students aged 13 to 16 years of age who are alienated from mainstream schooling.
It is all about re-engaging students in a meaningful learning programme targeted to their individual needs, supporting them to transition back to mainstream school, further education, training or employment.
Alternative education supports students to progress in the areas of:
- attendance and engagement,
- academic achievement,
- personal and social skills based on the key competencies within the New Zealand Curriculum and,
- re-engagement back into secondary school, further education or training, or where appropriate, employment, through a planned approach.
